As an intern at Velvet Lounge, a clothing boutique, I learned the basics of how a boutique operates. My duties included intake of new merchandise (putting in computer system, putting price and security tags on), operating the cash register and credit card machine, assisting customers, helping with the store layout and design, dressing window mannequins, answering the telephone, and watching the store by myself. My supervisor sought my opinion in ordering new merchandise for the next season and showed me how to spend a season's budet. I was put in charge of taking pictures of merchandise for the store's website. I also learned how to deal with crises: angry customers and a flooding outside.
